BMI is a community dedicated to improving the educational experiences and life chances of Black males by addressing economic, social, legal, and health challenges.

Center For Critical Internet Inquiry (C2i2)

The Center’s work explores interdisciplinary intersections of digital technologies and society, with the goal of creating fairness, justice, equity, and sustainability in relationship to our technological engagements.

Center for Improving Child Care Quality (CICCQ)

CICCQ conducts high-quality research with a focus on improving the early care and education environments of young children at local, state, and national levels.

Center for Information as Evidence

CIE is an interdisciplinary forum addressing the ways in which information objects and systems are created, used, and preserved as evidence.


Center for Knowledge Infrastructures

CKI conducts research on scientific data practices and policy, scholarly communication, and socio-technical systems, exploring methods of data collection, innovations in scaling and workflows, and multidisciplinary approaches to complex problems.

Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, & Student Testing (CRESST)

CRESST sets the national research agenda by creating new methodologies for evaluating educational quality, student learning, and use of assessment data.

Center for the Transformation of Schools (CTS)

The Center for the Transformation of Schools works alongside districts, counties and states to pursue whole child, whole community approaches to school system change and education justice.

Center X

Center X is dedicated to dramatically changing education for the underserved students of Los Angeles by designing and conducting programs that produce K-12 teachers committed to social justice, instructional excellence, and caring in low-income urban schools.


Civil Rights Project/Proyecto Derechos Civiles (CRP)

CRP is creating a new generation of research in social science and law on the critical issues of civil rights and equal opportunity for all racial and ethnic groups in the United States.

Community Archives Lab at UCLA

The Community Archives Lab at UCLA explores the ways that independent, identity-based memory organizations document, shape, and provide access to the histories of minoritized communities.

HERI promotes institutional improvement through an increased understanding of higher education, and is home to the Cooperative Institutional Research Program which conducts the largest ongoing national studies of college students in the United States.

Institute for Democracy, Education, & Access (IDEA) 

IDEA seeks to challenge pervasive inequalities in education by conducting research, analyzing policy, and working alongside communities to increase access to high-quality public schools and college.
